Hemis National Park spread over an area of 3,300 sq km was created in 1981 and named after the famous Hemis Gompa. The park is home to many rare high altitude wildlife of the region including the exotic snow leopard, wolf and ibex. Indus River flanks the northern territory of the park and the area extends on both sides of the Zanskar River. The park is one of the few ones where one can trek and in fact is the only way to explore the park. There are four entry points to the park: Stok (12 km from Leh), Chilling (60 km from leh), Zingchan (30 km from Leh) and Martselang (48 km from Leh). We offer five trips in the park: Zingchan to Rumbak (round the year); Spituk to Rumbak (round the year); Skyu-Kaya to Markha Valley (summer); Spituk to Markha (summer); Martselang to Shang (summer).
